Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) is considering a solidarity strike for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

In a statement yesterday, its president, Williams Akporeha, said the union would not hesitate to begin the industrial action, condemning the “lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government towards finding a lasting solution to the crisis.”

He described the situation as “unfortunate and a sad commentary on the level of governance and sensitivity of political leaders.”

BESIDES, All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths and Students Council has charged the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to wade into the ASUU crisis.

The Mazi Ezenwa Onyirimba-led group, at a parley with students unions from the country’s six geopolitical zones, hinted that Tinubu has all it takes to address Nigeria’s problems.

The students faulted the notion that the President Muhammadu Buhari should be held responsible for thehe country’s woes.

They expressed optimism that the two-term Lagos State governor would declare a state of emergency on the education, health and other critical sectors.

The youngsters, in a communiqué, at the end of their meeting, stressed that Tinubu’s antecedents demonstrate capacity, will power and understanding to fund education.
